Jill Pollard

A Personal Welcome

Hello, I’m Jill, and I’m so glad you’re here.

Life can become overwhelming in ways that affect how we feel, how we connect, and how we function day to day. You may be carrying anxiety or depression, grieving a loss, recovering from trauma, navigating a major transition, or trying to find steadier ways to communicate and cope. My goal is to offer a warm, open-minded, and affirming space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported as we work toward meaningful change.

My background has given me the privilege of working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across a wide range of needs and levels of care. I have worked in foster care and domestic violence organizations, as well as acute and outpatient psychiatric settings. In my behavioral health work, I have completed psychiatric evaluations, provided therapy with children and adolescents, facilitated group therapy with adults, and worked with people experiencing complex and often high-stress concerns.

That experience has taught me that people are much more than the crisis, diagnosis, or difficult season that brought them to therapy. I want our work together to be practical and collaborative, while also making room for the relationships, experiences, strengths, and patterns that shape your life

My Approach to Individual Therapy

I believe therapy works best when it is tailored to the person in front of me. I draw from evidence-based and strengths-focused approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment-based approaches, and other methods based on your needs and goals.

DBT is an especially useful part of my work with clients who feel emotions intensely, become overwhelmed during conflict or stress, or want stronger tools for managing difficult moments. We may work on emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, communication, boundaries, and ways to respond more intentionally rather than feeling controlled by the moment.

My Approach to Teens & Families

Adolescence can bring enormous changes in identity, emotions, friendships, school demands, family relationships, and independence. I work with teens ages 12 and older to create a space where they can speak openly, build practical coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and feel respected while working through what is happening in their lives.

I also understand that a young person’s struggles rarely happen in isolation. When appropriate, I help parents and families strengthen communication, understand patterns that may be contributing to stress, and find more effective ways to support one another. My goal is not to assign blame, but to help families move toward greater connection, clarity, and stability

Crisis & Complex Behavioral Health Experience

Much of my professional experience has involved people during some of the most difficult and complicated moments of their lives. My work has included psychiatric evaluations, crisis intervention, acute and outpatient psychiatric care, trauma, domestic violence, foster care, and therapy with children, adolescents, and adults.

That background allows me to remain grounded when situations feel complicated or emotionally intense. Whether you are coming to therapy during a crisis or simply recognizing that something in your life needs to change, I want to help you understand what is happening, identify what is within your control, and build skills and support that can carry into everyday life.

Credentials & Training

I earned my Bachelor of Early Childhood Education from the University of North Texas and my Master of Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Texas with more than ten years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults across community and behavioral health settings. My formal training includes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), with additional experience using strength-based, attachment-based, acceptance and commitment, family, and trauma-informed approaches.
